În expresia de mai jos, prin mutarea unui singur beţişor să se ajungă la o egalitate perfectă:
VI = II
Nu se acceptă soluţii în sisteme de reprezentare diferite (de exemplu XI = II), sau în alte baze de numeraţie decât baza 10. |

Mutăm un beţişor din dreapta deasupra lui I din stânga şi obţinem:
radical din 1 = 1. |
