Penny Black este primul timbru adeziv din lume, fiind pus in circulatie in anul 1940 in Anglia.
Totusi, el a fost retras dupa niciun an si inlocuit cu Penny Red. De ce oare ? |

Cerneala de culoare rosie ce se folosea in acea vreme la stampile nu se vedea bine pe timbrul inchis la culoare si era si usor de sters, de aceea timbrele se puteau refolosi destul de usor. De aceea Penny Black a fost inlocuit cu Penny Red, iar stampilele au devenit negre. |
